Arrive to Boca de Yuma to meet your local guide, then head off the grid together into the jungle. Led along hidden trails, you’ll hike through dense greenery, tasting wild fruits along the way as you make your way to tucked-away caves and crystal-clear cenotes. Swim, explore, and cool off in untouched waters before sitting down to a well-earned local lunch.

Then, the experience continues.

From the jungle, you’ll make your way to the banks of the Río Yuma, where a small boat awaits. Glide through calm, winding waters as the landscape shifts around you, eventually opening out toward a quiet, locals-only stretch of coastline—far from the typical crowds.

your Adventure

Your day begins outside a local Dominican colmado, where you'll meet your guide and get a glimpse into everyday life in the Dominican Republic. Grab a cold drink or snack before setting off toward Cotubanamá National Park.

Your first stop is Cueva de Berna, an ancient cave decorated with Taíno petroglyphs. As you explore by flashlight, keep an eye out for cave owls, crabs, bats, and the many creatures that call this hidden world home.

From there, you'll cool off in the crystal-clear waters of Hoyo Azulito, a spring so beautiful it's said to have inspired the legend of the Fountain of Youth. Swim, float, or simply relax before continuing deeper into the jungle.

A short hike leads to Hoyo Verde, one of the park's most secluded cenotes. Along the way, your guide will help you spot native plants and wildlife—including the Giant Hispaniola Tarantula if we're lucky. Once there, you'll have the chance to swim through both chambers of the cenote using the dive masks we provide.

After a morning of exploring, you'll head to El Arponero, a seaside restaurant overlooking the Caribbean. Enjoy freshly caught fish and seafood while watching local fishermen bring in the day's catch just offshore.

After lunch, your adventure continues aboard a traditional Dominican lancha as you cruise up the Yuma River. Keep your eyes peeled for wading birds, endemic Rhinoceros Iguanas, and maybe even a bit of pirate treasure hidden along the riverbanks.

From there, you'll head out into the Caribbean to a secluded beach that can only be reached by boat—a peaceful stretch of sand known almost exclusively by locals. It's the perfect place to swim, relax, and soak in the untouched beauty of the coastline.

Before the day comes to an end, you'll be welcomed into a local Dominican home for a glimpse into everyday life. Walk through the family's gardens, meet the animals they raise, learn how they live, and experience a side of the Dominican Republic that few visitors ever have the chance to see. It's a fitting end to a day built around authentic adventure and genuine connection.

Need to Haves

  • Good walking shoes (Chacos, Tevas, Tennis shoes, Hiking shoes, etc)

  • Bathing suit (Best worn on or under your clothes)

  • Water Bottle (Plastics can be purchased at the meeting point)

  • Cash for Lunch, local purchases, tolls and tips

    • You will pass a toll, they only accept Local Dominican Pesos.

    • For everything else USD is fine

Nice to Haves

  • Water shoes

  • Bug spray

  • Day pack

  • Extra set of clothes

  • Towel

  • Snorkeling Mask (We provide, but nice to have your own)

Restrictions

  • Children under 6

  • Pregnant women

  • Any persons with significant movement handicap or assisted walking device

  • Generally, persons over 65 is not recommended
